The driver in a fatal car accident near Steamboat Springs has pleaded guilty to careless driving resulting in death, according to 9 News. The accident was a single vehicle rollover, and the person who died was a passenger in the driver’s car. Prosecutors dropped several other charges against the Brighton man, in return for pleading guilty to the misdemeanor. The dropped charges include vehicular homicide, DUI, and driving under restraint. The man lost control of his car on Highway 131, and rolled the vehicle, resulting in the death of his 72-year-old passenger, who was also from Denver. The original cause of the accident is not immediately clear.
